Teaching Method

Various methods are used to teach English as a second language. One World chooses the Cooperative learning method of teaching and delivers interactive lessons that, as proved scientifically, results in more fluency and better understanding of English. We use different text books and supporting materials to reach our goal.

Students are divided into four or five member groups and a four-step cycle is initiated: teach, team study, test and recognition. The teaching phase begins with the presentation of material. During team study, group members work cooperatively with worksheets and answer sheets. Next, each student individually takes a quiz. The teacher scores the papers. Each team receives recognition awards. Then the group starts working on the next unit and after the unit is done the same cycle starts working.

All the participants have to take a pre - test and after their actual level is revealed they are divided into groups. During the teaching process students will have to go through oral practice tests that show and improve their speaking abilities and write three complete tests. The first test - at the end of the first month, the second- at the end of the second month and the third – at the end of the course. The tests will reveal their writing, grammar and spelling skills.

Teaching Professional English - Legal English, Financial English, Official Communication English – requires high level of General English (upper intermediate). We understand that very often it is lower than anticipated. That is why we choose such an approach: we combine General English with Professional English that lets us improve our trainees’ reading, listening, writing, grammar and professional skills simultaneously.
